why dont i have periods?? i came off pill over 18 mnths ago, my periods started every month then gradually got longer and longer apart. i go 6 mnths if not longer without a period, been through tests, all tests are normal, surely there must be something wrong with me to go for that amount of time, my dr's say dont worry about it, also i want to have kids and am worried this is going to effect my chances of concieving, does anyone know someone with the same problem???

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having irregular periods, especially after being on the pill for so long. My sister had 2 periods a year all her young life. She used to really get on my nerves because I had regular periods and she was able to do all the sporty stuff I couldn't do at those times (we're ancient now, by the way. Neither of us have periods any more - joy!).
Anyway, her only problem was her periods were heavy and painful. And of course when she was trying for a baby, there were no signs of her being pregnant. She never knew whether she was pregnant or not, because she had so few periods anyway. She has 2 gorgeous children (all grown up now with lives of their own). So don't worry, just get on with your life. The Doc's told you there's nothing wrong. Believe him/her, and relax. It'll happen when you least expect it, you'll see!

I don't know how old you are, if you are over 30 I would say that it is possible that you are going through the change as it happens to some a lot younger nowadays especially if there is a history of it in the family. If you are younger than it could be you have a hormone imbalance possibly producing too much of the Testosterone hormone. My advice to you is don't let the doctors fob you off it's your life and you want answers ask for a second opinion and keep on at them until you find out.

Because thats how we were made. Now if they had the babies and the periods we would have to provide the sperm- then we would be the men and they would be the women- we just have to be content that this is how God made us- it was what he designed and wanted. No point in spending too much time even thinking about it because we cannot change it. Anyway, if they did have babies and periods mankind would have not got past Adam! They make enough fuss when they cut their finger- can you imagine them with a period- or even worse giving birth- no - i think God knew the best man for the job of having babies was a woman.

It sounds like you have "secondary amenorrhea". Common causes include pregnancy, stress, breast-feeding, menopause, weight changes, discontinuing use of oral contraceptives, ovarian cysts, and sport-related exercise.

Another form of amenorrhea is "Functional Hypothalamic Amenorrhea (FHA)" which is most often associated with eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia.

Amenorrhea is often self-correcting once the cause is determined and the appropriate life-style changes are made. You say you've been tested, so more than likely, your body will correct itself in time.

But, to ease your mind, I would suggest making another appointment with your doctor to sit down and thoroughly discuss the implications, what you can do differently, and your concerns about conception. Don't be afraid to ask loads of questions--that's what your doctor's there for.

The link below will give you a bit more information.

Depends on your age. Are you abnormally thin, do you eat well.
Young girls are entering puberty at an earlier age than they did 30 years ago. At the other end women are coming up to the menopause at a younger age now.
This could be a possibility.
Suggest though that you see a competent doctor.

the birth control damaged something, most doctors don't want to shed light on the problem because that means they would have to pull a drug that is making them rich, everything is about money...the best you can do now is to not take anymore unnecessary drugs and further your problem. look up a natural doctor and make an appointment.
