Yes I think so, those that play chess are given more time to think. Wheter it be about spirituality or not it is still constructive.

Several people here have given you some great answers. I can only add that you might enjoy watching some movies that have chess in them, such as Searching For Bobby Fischer, and Knights Of The South Bronx. Both are true accounts. Spiritually speaking, chess is of value because it teaches you to NEVER GIVE UP! Even when it looks hopeless! And mentally, it keeps the brain stimulated by having you analyze all the possible moves and deciding which one might be the best. Now, I must tell you this...if you find that special someone that you want to spend the rest of your life with AND THEY PLAY CHESS TOO ---WOW! That's really nice! My wife and I play and love the game very much. Really spices up our marriage! Good luck! I hope you will become a chess player if you aren't already . It's a great game!

Yes, I agree. A chess player has a whole different approach to life...at least a chess player that really knows and understands the game. It's one of the best mental exercises and it can easily be applied to everyday situations. It keeps you two and three steps ahead of everybody else. Just read some of the comments to your question and you'll see what I mean...lol. Good luck with that!

It is at least mentally constructive. You have to plan your moves if you expect to go very far in the game. Every step counts. Further, if you can move that thinking into your every-day life, planning things out make life a little easier.

Yes, I think so. I don't play chess, but the playing of it is probably a good way to teach your brain strategical thinking. You need that process for many life experiences.
Spiritual? Well, that is a very astute observation. I wonder, how does it do that for you? I am curious.
