minimum recommended is 300 watts, i only have a 250 watt but i heard you can usually get away with having a little less power than required. could i ruin my computer if it gets overloaded, and do you think the card would work?

It depends on your current configuration. If the rest of your system doesn't draw a lot of wattage, it may be ok. It sounds like 250W is just about the edge of 'safe' for your current system. I suggest upgrading, power supplies are fairly cheap - cheaper than a new video card. You can check your wattage at the site below.

Power supplies are cheap. Buy a 300 watt (or better) supply to replace the current 250.

Well, your power supply would fry and you risk damaging your new Video card, and other components. (by underpowering) ... Remember, that 250Watts has to be shared with the WHOLE system.... I would recommend at least a new 500Watt P/S
