Until we have jobs that allow people ,to afford for themselves ,the ability to meet the financial obligations ,of medical care ,we are then forced as a humane nation to provide treatment for the population .
I would submit that our greatest asset is people and there health is the primary duty after defense of this nation .
All medical and dental needs should be met in this nation for all the people .
There is never a problem getting medical care just paying for it .
Medical care is not a capitalist endeavor but a humanitarian one and should be provided for as part a government program aimed at keeping Americans healthy .

I think national health care is a wonderful idea. Some countries have it in play already. Reasons for it:
1. Less insurance you would have to pay. For a single person with no children and in good health I have the cheepest I could find at $125 a month. No extras, just hospitalization.
2.For as few people on average that go into the hospital or get sick per year, the tax for such care would not be that much.
3.For doctors, there whould be less of a worry about being sued for malpractice (which many of the cases are false anyway)
Great Question!

Yes, The insurance companies fleecing of the american people must stop! Health care cost are rising at a rate of 8 to 12 percent a year mainly due to outrageous insurance costs! These cost are increasingly becoming the direct responsibility of the American worker through higher co-pays an week or monthly payments being made right from your paycheck! Also I do not promote following trends but if you look ,every large democratic nation in the world has moved to a national health care system of one type or another (India,Britain,Germany,Canada!) They have all went this route. Now some U.S. citizens are even going to Canada for prescription drugs because of outrageous costs in the states! Whether an entire national health care system is needed or not is up for debate but in my opinion the fact that SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE IS NOT!

Its a good idea for the simple fact that everybody in a society would be able to get necessary health-care regardless of how much money they have and it promotes equality, in a so called developed nation it does not make sense for some people to get the treatment others can only dream of having.
It also benefits society as a whole because less people who may have an illness that is contagious can get treatment thus making the chances of an outbreak occurring slim.
I also believe a private system should still be in place so that those who don't wish to wait in a queue for any procedures etc they need can pay to speed up their treatment.

No. I lived for two years in a country that has a nationalized health system (Great Britain). Health care there is not as good or available as it is to everyone in the US. Fortunately, unlike in Canada, private health care is available in Britain.
By what stretch of the imagination can I legitimately make a claim on the efforts of others without offering something of value in return? That is simply theft.
Put simply, I would rather pay to live than die for free.

Seems like it would be a good idea. We've certainly had the opportunity to see how other developed countries have handled their national health care systems and we should therefore we able to avoid most of the pitfalls that have plagued other systems.
However, if we're just going to let some bureaucratic government agency run amuck with the usual lack of accountability, it would be disastrous.
The current health care systems ignore millions of people without the ability to pay exorbitant premiums and also stifle the ability of so many people who desire to get out and start their own businesses or change jobs simply because "I (and my family) need my medical insurance coverage".

I think a national health care system is a great idea because it would promote national health and keep down the cost of unnecessary treatment. Other European countries already have some form of national health care and it seems to work very well. Take the politics out of health care and then it could work....

It is a good idea, but it presents some funding issues that off course greedy people don't like. If they are the elite class how can they stand in line with ugly people? Bush friend should not be treated like that. They deserve the right to live more than anyone because they were born rich.
