I'm 12 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I have a follow-up meeting with my OB on Nov 10th, and do plan on talking to her about this, but wanted to get some feedback from Yahoo users...I'm worried because although I feel like my stomach is SLOWLY getting a little bigger, I don't seem to actually be gaining any weight. In fact, if anything I seem to have lost a pound or two.

I don't have a huge appetite, but I snack a lot throughout the day, and am trying to eat healthy - lots of fruits and veggies, limit the sugar and all that good stuff.

I'm worried because I had a miscarriage last year at about 8 or 9 weeks, and I'm just worried that the same thing is going to happen again. I had an ultrasound a few weeks ago and the baby looked fine (was quite active!:o)) but still...I can't help but worry.

Is it normal not to put on any weight in the first three months? And when did you start to "show" and actually put on "baby weight"?

I'd appreciate any comments/experiences....

I am a mother of four children ranging from 19 years to 7 months. I did not gain with the last pregnancy, it was all baby, it was not me at all. You will be gaining weight in about 2 more months as your baby will double in size and demand more from you, then you will see another surge in weight gain at around the 7th month as well. There is nothing wrong with not gaining weight during pregnancy, as long as you are eating to your satisfaction. You are NOT supposed to be eating for two as far as quantity is concerned, only as far as QUALITY is concerned. Your baby is doing fine on the amniotic fluid, which is quite tasty to him/her. He/she ingests nutrients, not food, from the umbilical cord. So do not BULK or overdo any type of carbs, proteins, etc. Take a daily prenatal vitamin ( I prefer PRENATE ELITE) that will not constipate you or make you sick. Stay well hydrated with noncarbonated, caffeinated beverages to the point of clear (not yellow) urination. Treat yourself at least once a week to your absolute cravings or favorite foods. Gaining too much weight during pregnancy is nothing to brag about. Gaining too much weight can lead to terrible circumstances. Try to stick to the at least 25 pounds goal and if you go a bit (10-15) over do not worry about this, your baby's weight will be fine at the end of your pregnancy.

When I was 2 months pregnant with my son, I gained 5lbs and lost 5lbs the next month. I did a lot of walking which helped me lose the weight that I've gained. It's okay to lose weight or stay the same in the beginning of the pregnancy. However, you should be gaining some weight throughout the rest of the remaining months. There are times when you're eating, but your baby does not want to eat. Try eating more frequently(especially carbs), this helps the baby get food in his/her stomach.

Don't worry, you'll gain more weight later. I gained 46lbs during my whole pregnancy.

Gaining Weight In First Trimester

With my first two babies I was still wearing button fly Levi's at four months. I ALWAYS lose weight the first three months.

You should check out a website that will show you week by week how big your baby is. You will be so surprised how tiny he/she is for how long! It's not big enough for a long time to add the weight.

Some women start eating like crazy as soon as they find out they are pregnant. Any large weight gain in the first few months is due to Burger King more than Baby weight.

When I was pregnant, I lost weight throughout my first and second trimesters even though I was eating fairly normally, maybe even a little more than normal in the 2nd trimester. I didn't start showing or gaining weight until my 3rd trimester and I only gained a few pounds by the end of my pregnancy. Everyone's body is different, so as long as your doc is keeping a good eye on you and the baby, try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Good Luck=)!!!

It is very normal to see the weight gain around your waist area in the 3rd month. It may also be due to bloating as well. Sometimes you don't think it's bloating, but it has a lot to do with as well. I'm nearly 16 weeks and have been using maternity pants for a week now - because i now have a bump. During my 3rd month, while i did notice the gain around my waist, i just tried to juice out the most of my normal pants. It is very normal. Don't fret! It's a good thing! Ps. try to stay fit - walk and stretch, try yoga. Do not stay sedentary for too long. And continue to sleep on your left side - that is the side doctors recommend you sleep on so as to help blood flow better into your baby.

I lost weight my first trimester due to excessive vomiting, then gained five pounds at my six month and 16 pounds my seventh month. Are you slender to begin with? This could be why you haven't gained much weight yet. Then again, three months in isn't too far yet. Most women don't notice a significant weight gain, or tight clothing, until four to five months. Good Luck and congrats Mom!!

That sounds perfectly normal to me. I'm sorry about your loss but try not to worry. Your appetite should pick up within the next month or so and you'll start to gain a little weight then. Since you're eating healthy you won't gain as much as you would if you were eating junk food and that's a good thing! Good luck and I hope you have a happy healthy pregnancy and baby.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. This is my second pregnancy and I did not put on any weight until I was well into my fourth month with either baby. It is not uncommon to not gain weight in the first trimester, lots of women actually lose weight with the morning sickness and all.

Quit worrying... :o)

Good luck and congrats!
