At one time I had installed Quick Time, but in the end my computer would not run it for some reason, so I uninstalled it. However I have tried several ways to remove the icon below, but with no luck. It loads each time I boot computer. I right click to exit it each time, but it shows up next time I reboot??

Run the msconfig utility. Go to Start, then Run and type in: msconfig
Go to the startup tab
You will see a list of all the programs that are loaded when your computer starts up. Uncheck any that you do not have to have. (Usually you can uncheck them all). If you decide you to need one, you can go back and recheck it. Quicktime will be one of them. Uncheck it to get it out of the system tray.

DEWCOONS is right. That is how I removed the MSN Messenger quick start icon.

You probably already know this: if you use the Add/Remove Programs you will be removing the entire program. Also, do not delete individual files either, or you might end up getting error messages at start-up instead.

Go into the preference, there is checkbox "Start with windows XP" or "Load at startup" I don't remember well but I,m sure it's in the preference dialog.

You can also check that it isn't present in the startup folder (start / all programs / startup )

Why don't you try using System Restore? This is the best way to get rid of such problems.

start menu, control panel, add/remove programs.

find quicktime on the remove programs list and delete it.

If you want to keep quicktime you'll have to open it and look in the preferences to remove the tray icon

You say you uninstalled it?
No you didn't, or you wouldn't have it in your taskbar.

go to control panel, add/remove programs, and remove it from there.
then restart your computer.

Look into the program files, maybe the rest of the file is still there, and also look into the start-up file in the document and settings...etc... erase it from there
