Neoprene is the most common material in wetsuits. Nylon is often used for zippers and zipper pulls. Spandex is usually used for rash guards, but is generally not used in wetsuits. Spandex tends to be too thin to offer much insulation, but it works great for wicking water under a wetsuit.
