I think the key to enjoying a dining-out experience is atmosphere... if you can create a good atmosphere that will make your customers feel comfortable and welcome AND your food is exceptional, then you're definitely on the track to success. But I think a lot of what you include in a restaurant really depends on the type of establishment you want to bring to the community... Do you want it to be casual or more formal? Geared to families or more refined and upscale? Do you want your restaurant to have a "theme" or a certain feel to it? Determining these aspects would certainly play a part in the type of atmosphere you would want to create for your restaurant.
Location is also a factor when it comes to the business side of things - the better your location, the more people you'll bring in.
:o) Good luck with your business!

Well, first of all be prepared for a lot of work. If it's here in NoCal, you probably want a place with outdoor seating too. Must have music at least. And train your servers! That has been my biggest complaint about a restaurant ever. If the service sucks, it doesn't matter the view or how good the food is.
Best of luck, it's hard, but I loved it.

This is coming sort any individual within the hospitality trade: Presentation is fundamental. If served by means of a good placed-in combination, beautiful (versus a slovenly, poorly groomed) server, the overal enjoy will probably be a lot more fine. In addition, men and women are regularly extra ready (and optimistic in their capabilities) after they suppose they're beautiful and take satisfaction of their look. If served by means of a gregarious, pleasant, gracious, beautiful server, I will definitely tip bigger than if I were served by means of a slovenly, slouching, surly, cranky server. Appearance is however a factor of the entire kit of hospitality. .....But If I bought awful carrier from a twiglet, the enjoy might be reduced, and so might be the end. As a waiter, I continually attempt to seem, and act as quality as feasible.

A place you feel comfortable being whether it's a romantic date or with a group of friends. Comfortable seating and atmosphere. A menu with a few familiar items but keeps fresh with interesting dishes. A trained staff that knows the menu and can give suggestions on wine/food pairings.

I live in No. Cal. What I enjoy about dining out is:
friendly servers (some, I make friends with!)
good, hearty food
no dishes to wash when I am done! (That's why I go out)
I like to bring my homework and study while I dine, so I like the quieter places. When I dine out with my spouse, we like to watch pro football on the big screen or have a lovely water view. A good wine cellar, daily specials, flexibility, and variety. Good luck!

In this day and age any kind of music, entertainment, or TV's are a horrible distraction and invariably of very inferior quality. Even your mentioning that stuff makes me run away from your Restaurant.

the music; the setup; the theme of the place; if its specified to serve certain dish or not; the service is extremely important to me; if there is a live music; i mean if i ll go to a place for my lunch break i would rather go to a place who have quite lounge music where i can relax a bit; eat something good; talk to someone without shouting; getting my order on time; and good value of money; also valet parking is important;

I love being able to go somewhere where I don't have to cook or clean up after myself and my family. I'd say that having a pretty atmosphere is a good plan too, it'll make people come back.
