If alcohol and tobacco are legal, marijuana should be too. In fact, out of the three drugs I just mentioned, marijuana has the best track record, in regards to safety.

Well, I see it this way. Alcohol is a lot more destructive and it is legal. I hear stories about people everyday who have gotten Alcohol poisoning or died from cirrhosis of the liver. As far as I know no one has ever over dosed on marijuana. Never heard of anyone wrecking a car because of such use. Also the violence that is attributed to alcohol use is not seen in marijuana users. The only problem is that it would be difficult to tax marijuana because it could be grown in someone's back yard.

I think marijuana is like alcohol, yet alcohol is legal to buy. I think if it was legalized, a lot of things would calm down.

Yup.
I quit smoking marijuana a few years ago but I know plenty of people who smoke daily and are upstanding people except for the weed law breaking

Knowing many life-long friends who have used for decades with no adverse affects whatsoever. .. . I would have to say YES.
Another thought .. .We have all seen drunk people do crazy and violent things. They get 'beer muscles' and start fights.
Sooooo, when's the last time you saw a marijuana smoker start a fight.....
I rest my case.
