When my central heating kicks in in the morning, regular tapping starts for about 5 mins, then it speeds up and eventually stops, it is very irritating as my alarm clock is now redundant...please advise as to what i can do to fix it

If it was a replaced water line it might be air, but not this. If the heat source is gas. 1st your fan comes on and then the gas valve opens, if you don't have a pilot light, then what you are hearing is the electronic igniter trying to light the burners. It won't quit until the heat sensor indicates a flame is present. the sensor could be dirty or too far away from the burners causing the igniter to keep trying. One other thing, if the unit is a heat pump, what you are hearing is a natural part of the moister being removed from the air

It sounds like your system is steam heat & that you have an air bubble. You can try to bleed it but if there is a leak, then it might develop again.

It's air in the pipes, I don't know if bleeding the pipes will help but it's worth a shot.
