The object of the game was to capture your opps. marbles by getting 1 of your marles on each side of his/her set of 3 marbles. I think the game had a roman theme but I do remember that the board rolled up into a tube.

It was Pente. Pente had a plastic fabric board that you rolled up and stored in a tube. Othello was played on a flat board with black and white discs.

Pente, you need to get five in a row of the marbles, or get enough of your opponent's peices by capturing them.

Yes, I agree with the above answers... the game is most likely Pente, but you should go here and check it out... a great resource for locating games (both old and brand new).
