1,001,000,000,000 if you add them together.
a billion is a thousand million (1 + 9 zeros on the end)
a trillion is a thousand billion = a million million (1+ 12 zeros)
a quadrillion is a thousand trillion (1+ 15 zeros)
...
Those are the ONLY values for those numbers, doesn't matter about what country you're in, they're the same everywhere. Danhanjay is out of date, so is Essex friendly.

Ah, this is a great question, with cultural undertones.
Say 50 years ago, the US called a billion 1000 million and the UK (Brits) called a billion a million million.
So in 1950, US billion = 1,000,000,000
and UK billion = 1000,000,000,000
At that time the UK called 1,000,000,000 a milliard
I think it was during the 1970s that the Financial Times started to use the US termiology and since then, Brits have used the same convention as the US.
Now in both US and UK a billion is 1,000,000,000
and in both countries a trillion is 1,000,000,000,000

It depends where you come from. Apparently the US have a different type of billion and trillion from those of us in the UK. The only actual value for a billion I've ever heard is one thousand million, and I've never had to deal with numbers in their trillions so I don't know about that one.

That's true in French, where a n-llion = 10^(6n). A centillion is 1 followed by 600 zeroes.
In English, a n-lion = 10^(3+3n). Thus a billion is 10^9 and a trillion is 10^12.
