so i wake up this fine morning and my fish has a strand of clearish stuff coming out her end along with darker strand that looks more like fish poo...is she gonna be having babies? i know she is prego but i have been waiting for her to have them... i just dont know if she is or not

sounds like she is about ready good luck! but if not its pooh though I never heard of it being clear

Your platie fish will be ready to deliver when you see her eating gravel to help push out the baby fish thru her mouth. She carries her babies live in her belly and when they are ready to be born, she pushes them out of the sack thru her mouth. If you take a close look at her belly, you can sometimes see the babies running in her stomach. The strand of clear stuff is poo, eventhough many times it is black or brown.

I have a male platty that often poops kind of a clear substance and he obviously isn't pregnant so I'd say that this has nothing to do with having babies.
