I don't believe it ever will. With the death of team concepts, and the "me" now attitude, I don't believe that the NBA will ever be as good as it was in the eighties. Let us look back as to why it won't be. In the 80's you had the Laker-Celtic rivalry going on again. You had Larry vs Magic. An up and coming Michael Jordan, the Bad Boys of Detroit. But even with all of that you had a family atmosphere that was present at the games. Now with the NBA going "hip hop", most families that would normally take them in the 80's want nothing to do with the new atmosphere presented to them. Just my opinion, not fact remember. Thanks!!!

What do you mean " as popular"? The game is more popular now than it ever was back in the 80's. It is broadcast worldwide. Little kids in China dream of playing like Yao Ming and Lebron James. Fan attendance is up over any previous time period.

Now do you mean is the quality of play better now than it was back then? Well, it may be a more athletic game now, but I would tend to say that on a whole the basic fundamentals are less important than they were, but that is just my opinion.

I think some of the luster is off cuz of the fights and violence but there are many stars emerging as the faces of the future - Melo, LeBron, Wade, etc.

With players like King James, Melo, D-Wade, Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, and Chris Bosh, then I say yes it will be. Except there will never be another Clyde Drexter (might of spelled wrong)

I think it can, but the responsibility sits with the players. Until they learn to shoot, pass and play D the game will continue to decline....
