I agree, It should be easy to add one to a total number of votes.
Alas, the truth is that the secret software inside a voting machine will give whatever result it is programmed to give, and you'd have to be crazy to trust it .

Living in Florida, I can tell you that our experience was not the votes were counted inaccurately. It was people not liking the outcome. So in 2000, the recount was to judge "voters' intent", rather than what the ballot actually read. Hence the "hanging chad". Of 200 was the first attempt to change a vote, not will it be the last wait until Nov.7. It will happen again, only question is what state(s)?

My only concern about having a computer calculate the vote totals would be security issues arising from people attempting to hack into the computer system to give one canidate more votes or attempting to subtract votes away from a canadiate. Until these issues are resolved, I doubt computer systems would be a positive thing to use while people vote.

Because all those machines are too busy finding the winning lottery #s-------- I ask that same question in 2000,who do they think we are? It cant be that complicated to count votes,we dont have any problems sending people in outer space, but we have trouble adding 1+1=2, i agree we are lagging in the world in our math skills !!!!!

Well, it could be that the repubs are in charge of that & they are afraid of a real count...why do you think there was soooo much fuss the two times Bush has been elected? It took time to fudge all the results!

it doesn't matter how simple a ballot is. You will get a democrat saying it's not fair.
For instance, the democrats (both of them) in west palm beach, florida claimed (after they voted) that they couldn't understand which button correlated to their democrat. And instead of asking for help, they pushed a button, and low and behold, they all somehow voted for a republican, and didn't realize it until after the election.
SO, we were supposed to take their word for it, and take away a republican vote AND give a vote to a democrat? But if we had a way to go back and see their actual ballot, they would claim it isn't private.

Votes are not even counted. Bush and other presidents are elected by THIS secret and evil group that's been in control of everything for far too long!...

Yes, you are missing something, hackers and the people that make the machine, control that machine.
