My friend thinks that he is entitled to being soviern (not having to pay taxes and all that that entails). I say he is a fool, and greedy. Is it true that if you own land in Texas you can become sovern?
Or am I right ? I say he will loose every thing he has accumulated if he chooses not to pay his taxes.

You are correct and your friend is indeed a fool.

There is a myth floating around in Texas that property owners can obtain a patent from the state that will grant them "allodial" or sovereign title over their property which will exempt them from taxation and loss of their property due to imminent domain. That's not true at all! The laws of the state of Texas do not recognize allodial title and your property is always subject to search, seizure, taxation, and foreclosure under the laws of the state government and the United States Congress.

It's all folklore that has caused a lot of people a lot of pain.

Actually a Land Patent or Allodial title is real. You just have to Contact the Federal Government on how much of the national debt is owed by the land. At this point you would have to pay the full amount off and then show it to the state in which you live in. Unfortunately the State of Texas owns the land that you live on if you live in that state since they never allowed the United States access to the land to make clear cut "voters." So in the state of Texas you can not have a Land Patent/ Allodial title because the State of Texas owns the land to be able to secede from the Union if they wish to.

You mean sovereign?

No. you cannot become sovereign just by owning land in Texas. Besides, it's not the state that assesses the property tax, it is the local municipality... And they'll be happy to take his land for auction if he doesn't pay up...

Tell your friend that if it was that easy the State of Texas and the local governments would have gone broke long ago.
