My 6 month old is kinda still not ready for solids.
Has anyones baby been given solids much later , like at 7- 8 months instead of 4 months.
Does it deprive them of any nutrients if solids are introduced much later.
Thanks.

Most pediatricians I've talked to and books I've read all agree that until the age of 1 breastmilk and/or formula is all that is really necessary...but that you can start solids as early as 4-6 months. I wouldn't worry too much about starting solids late. After hearing from a mom that had 8 or so kids we decided to use her method of determining when a baby is ready for solids...wait until the baby shows real interest in your food and starts "begging" for it. That is of course if the baby is past the "tongue-thrust reflex" that makes eating solids difficult for them.

It shouldn't be a problem. I would keep offering something like cereal maybe 3 times a week because sometimes it just takes them a while to get use to it and they do need that added iron. But otherwise either formula or breastmilk should be enough. My son is 5 months and showing readiness for solids. He grabs for our food, sits unassisted for short periods of time and doesn't push food out when he feed him with a spoon. You're baby will let you know when he/she is ready.

You should look for signs of readiness and if baby is not ready do not insist on it.
But try again, it takes some time for baby to accept other food except milk. It wont hurt him/her to start few weeks later than 6 months or even a month or two.
Some babies are prone to allergies and for them it is better to start later.

merely relax! you will do merely effective. My suggestion is to maintain the rice in her bottle because of the fact it facilitates her to no longer throw up. you are able to try feeding her slightly rice or oatmeal cereal until now you provide her milk, initiate off with a small quantity like a million/3 cup. She probable won't eat all of it on the start, yet merely keep attempting. tremendously quickly, like in a month, you are able to attempt to furnish her infant nutrition. My healthcare expert reported attempting greens first and then try fruit blended with the rice or oatmeal cereal. merely try slightly at a time, and don't be discouraged if she would not like each and every thing which you are attempting.

As long as your baby seems to be growing and developing fine, just follow her lead.
Solids are mostly for fun and practice at this age anyway.
