It depends on what you want. Did you want just a fun night/roll in the hay? If so then don't call him. If you would like to find out what he wants to talk to you about, give him a call or go by there. Maybe he still has feelings for you. If you feel the same it maybe worth pursuing.

If you just want some fun 'n sex don't need to leave him. But if it's an ex from a too long time ago and he didn't ever call you before i think he is not serious depending on my own experiences. As I did the same to a very before ex girlfriend.

The fact that you left the party and went out to eat with him says a lot in itself. It says that you are still attracted to him on some level. The fact that you slept with him reinforces that fact.
He was nice to leave you the note in the morning and not just throw you out...so he still has strong feeling for you also. You should definately hear him out on what he has to say.
Then you can decide what you want to do...move on, get back together, or something in the middle ~ maybe be Buddies.

Depends. Did you want anything else out of it? If you did...give him a buzz and say "sorry I freaked out...can we get together for that talk now?" If you didn't...you probably did the right thing. If there is ever a next time for a situation like this, jot a quick note back. State your intentions...not looking for anything else, but had a great time or had a great time, call me. Then the ball is in his court.

Well, I personally think you should have stayed, and if he wanted to get back with you, you weren't forced to say yes.
You really should at least ask what he wanted to talk about so he won't be hurt, because that hurt could turn into anger.
You staying the night may have given him the impression that you liked him. I don't know if he wants to say "We should just be friends and not go further" or "I want to get back together". That's the hard part.

Even though you left...Whatever he needed to talk to you about, if it's important he will seek you out..and if it's bothering you that much then I say give him a call and see if he brings it up to you... do not come across to needy

Sweetie, they call them ex's for a reason. You did good to leave, but shouldn't have gone in the first place.
