Do you mean swear as in promise? Or swear as in cussing?
If someone promises something, I expect that person to hold to it. If someone cusses at me, I never have anything to do with them again.

Okay, I have read some the responses because I wasn't really sure of your question so if you don't mind, could you be more specific on what your asking because your question is unclear. Did the person curse at you or did they want to make a promise, two totally different questions so if you want a answer you will need to be more clear.

Probably not believed in them because its not always the truth when they are swearing that they have said the truth.

Ignore them, just go on about your business, they are just showing their irnorance and intelligence.
It could be a form of verbal abuse and if this is the case talk to a counselor....

I would speak up and say I don't like that kind of language. If you don't, you will feel violated and you will stew about it for days.

Well personally I'd let them know immediately that it is not acceptable to talk to me that way.

You could take them at face value and see if they "live up to their word" and keep the promise.
or you could say "please don't use that language around me"
If your choose to speak with those adjectives & nouns do it else where.
