Anosmia is the complete loss of the sense of smell. Hyposmia is a partial loss. Parosmia is a distortion. Phantosmia is imagined. Presbyosmia is a loss due to aging.
Congenital anosmia is VERY rare.
Also, just because someone can't smell doesn't mean they can't taste. Yes, it's common for the two to be related, but it's not so in all cases.

olfactory challenged? Oh yeah I can only smell strong chemicals like bleach, some mint smells, ammonia, methyl ethyl ketone, those sorts of things. I have a deviated septum. My sense of taste is decreased, but I can still enjoy food. Not having a sense of smell doesn't mean that your taste buds are completely useless.
And no i can't smell farts in case you are wondering, but that does not mean I want someone to fart in my face. They are nasty and warm and the poo particles enter your nose regardless.
All right that was really disgusting, sorry.

Sad because imagine having no sense of smell would mean no taste buds how awful not to be able to taste also if there was a fire you would not smell it .

Unfortunate - if they have no sense of smell they can't taste food properly :)
