Different approaches to question. Obvious: very well Not so obvious: Most twice a month. Much of salaries are defered until after retirement so an athlete can always count on the salary he or she made while active. Sponsorships are in addition to salary and do not involve their employers.

By direct deposit. On the PGA Tour the money is deposited in the account specified by the player on the Monday following the tournament. In ice hockey, I believe it's two direct deposits a month.

i wish they were payed after a game. depending on their performance in the game. unfortunately, its by a pre determined contract. i would love to see in baseball $200. for a single, 400 for a double, etc. an error would cost the player 1000.
