I am thinking of switching to MacBook Pro (I am now a PC user) and I want to install my Sims 2 on it, after installing Windows on the MacBook Pro as I bought the PC version of The Sims 2. Will the notebook be good enough to play the game? There's 128MB and 256MB for video cards; will there be any difference? I just hope the game doesn't turn out choppy.

I play the Sims 2 on a plain MacBook (not a pro), and it plays fine. To be completely honest, I don't think it plays as well as it did on my old G4 iBook - a first it seemed to run a little slower - but I got used to it quickly and it is definitely playable.

I have heard that people actually get better performance out of the game by playing the PC game on a MacBook running Windows, rather than the Mac version in OSX - so I think you'd probably be safe. Just remember that the MacBook isn't actually a gaming machine - Aspyr has specifically stated that they do not support the Mac version of the game on MacBooks (due to the Intel video card), even though it is playable.

The 256 would run it slightly better, and since you have enough money to buy a MacBook Pro you might as well go ahead and spend the extra for the better card. Remember though that laptops are not really gaming computers to begin with, so don't expect fantastic performance either way.

Sims 2 is choppy on every computer I've played... however, the Core 2 Duo processor is the fastest processor on the market so even if the Sims is slightly choppy, be smug in the knowledge it's LESS choppy on yours!

You're processor is fast enough.. but what video card does the laptop have?..Because even with a fast processor if the video card is crap it won't run games well.
