My son just turned 11 months old, and we want to take him just for the fun of it (though he can't eat candy). How many of you think uit's a good idea?

Go for it because it is allot of fun and everybody knows the moms and dads eat most of the candy any ways if asked why your doing it because you need the practice lol. The best part of having children is to get to be apart of it all good luck and start dressing up for tonight lol I did it and so have all my friends when our kids were little. It was fun getting to know the neighbors and all their kids as we walked around. That what it is really about. Keep in mind you are still expected to leave a bowel of candy out for the other kids running around with you or somebody to pass out candy .

I think it's great if you take him to family and friends. I have 3 children and it's a lot of work going door to door. Now that they are older we do go door to door and when my oldest was old enough to walk and go door to door I did take my youngest who was around your son's age. But just to take an 11 month old.... I wouldn't do it. You'll have plenty of years ahead that will be enjoyable. Your son won't even be excited this year. I know that being a new parent is exciting and you want to do all of the fun exciting stuff. I too felt the need to go overboard with my first child. Just keep in mind who you are doing these overboard things for... you or your son. :) Have a wonderful day! You're son has pretty terrific parents!

If you would like to do it, go for it! We've decided, for a couple of reasons, not to take our daughter out trick-or-treating. We're just going up to my in-laws so she can show off her costume (she's going to be a pony!) and celebrate her first Halloween. We will be taking her our for trick-or-treating when she's older.

As for that candy... I'd say it's a perfect reward for all your hard work for these 11 months!

Have fun!

I think going to the mall would be better. Our local malls here have trick or treating during the afternoon. That way, it's not too dark or too cold for the little ones - a lot safer, both weather wise and candy wise. Plus they can wear their costume and not have to wear some jacket over it.

Personally, I waited until my son was two. When he could enjoy the candy. I don't see any reason not to, I just don't see the point in getting all that candy if he can't have any. Maybe you could just take him out and not actually do the door to door thing. (Just to show off how cute he is.) My two cents.

My son just turned 11 months also, we bought him a costume for my mommy & me group party. And, we are also going to take him to the grandparents and relatives that are close. Maybe a neighbour or two but thats it! Then it's home to bed! I think it is totally your decision, you know your baby best!

Great idea! We took both our girls when they were 6 & 7 months old. Of course he can't eat the candy (but you can!) Your neighbors will get a real treat (hehe!) by seeing your little one dressed up! Just remember, if it's cold where you are to bundle him up :)

I don't think I would do it. I think that it would be too cold out there, he isn't going to appreciate it, or remember it. Be honest, it is more for your fun than his isn't it...you want to have loads of people looking at your little pumpkin and going 'oh, isn't he cute?'.
Personally, I wouldn't take him, but at the end of the day, it's your decision. If you want to take him, you will, regardless of any advice here.
