I'd like to know how to make it so when customers purchase my downloadable product through paypal, they get it immediately after payment is received. I've already tried talking to paypal customer service. not very helpful. Almost as if they were trying to stear me away from that question.

I am a Paypal merchant (see my website using the link below) and here is what I do, first you have to have a Paypal account, I will assume you do. When a customer is ready to purchase I have them contact me via email to confirm they want to buy my software. Then using Paypal, you send a request for payment, once the funds are in your Paypal account you email the file. If this is not clear enough or you have more questions you can contact me via email I will gladly answer your questions. I have been using Paypal for about 4 years.
Note: I have tried that Huey, nope. Paypal is a secure site and many "things" cannot be done because of it and for obvious reasons.

First you have to have a premier or business account with paypal to be able to do this.
Paypal offers a automatic payment notification called "Instant payment notification". You can find the detail how to set this up on paypal website. You will need to know at least one web programming language, like php, perl, python ...

There is a way to do this as I have ordered down loads off eBay and it came pretty quick.
Call Pay Pal back and hopefully you will get someone who has been their a while and knows what they are doing.
