I've noticed, while reading through people's Q&As that they use asterixes in the most bizarre places. I mean, sure, to get past the censor, you sometimes have to use them, as in f*ck and sh*t, but I've seen people use them for words like "sex", "anal", "bastard" and even "boobs". These are all genuine English words. Why do some people think they have to disguise them?

Because some people have raped or been raped.Isn't it strange that todays children know more about sex then they should at thier young age.Porn is some of the problem.
Most kids grew up and there parents never talked to them about sex.they learned on there own.
Sex and love go together. And when it does it makes the word sex a wonderful word. And your bedroom is your private place to do what pleases you.And that is where it should stay.

I think its the matter of not wanting to offend..look at how howard stern was targeted by the FCC or how the super bowl was blown out of proportion when janet jacksons boob was exposed..how religious groups are trying to over turn Roe vs. Wade and a womans right to choose...think of the amount of people who claim to believe in strict religious family morals...even the politicians are targeting those people....there are strength in numbers.

Because some people are just very up tight and for those ones that's o.k. Saying the word sex personally for me is no different then saying "whats the matter you got a hemorrhoid."I guess for some That is just being to blunt.
