Conroy and Ville Nieminem were heart and soul players that took the flames to the finals.. It's like Linden in Vancouver and Draper in Detroit. Removing these players has hurt Calgary ever since their playoff run. Second, Iginla and Kipper just cant do it on their own. Thirdly, Sutter was the man..Playfair just aint.. playing fair..

I am not a Flame fan, but watched the whole game last night and have seen the Flames play several other times. I like watching Iginla , Phaneuf and Kipper. The Flames are not yet gelling and playing well, in the West that means trouble because there are so many good teams. Kipper has not yest hit his stride obviously. Sutter leaving the Bench to go upstairs is the part of the equation that makes me nervous for the Flames. He was such a perfect fit for the guys they have on the team.

No, we have not yet hit the time to panic. If you remember back to last season, the Flames started Oct worse then this year. Nothing seemed to work for them (4-9). Some scheduling quirks this year with a long Eastern road trip follow by 2 games in 8 nights didn' help. Mid November will be more of the measuring stick to see where the Flames stand. Edmonton and Vancouver are both being propped up by goaltending. We saw what happened to Edmonton when they put in their back-up (pulled after 4 goals) and Vancouver's vaunted offence is on par with the Flames. By Mid November, after 7 games, the Flames need to be above .500 and challenging for a playoff spot. Remember at the end of December last year, the Canucks had over a 10 point lead on the Flames in the standings and were looking to walk away with the Northwest. As I heard on the radio last night, you do not need to win your division to win the Stanley Cup!!
