Fox news stated that home ownership was up x%.
Cnn the other day (or maybe cnbc, they all look alike) said, "forclosures are up x%"
Well, no crap! If home ownerships are up, that would mean the foreclosure rate would go up as well. It's just a matter of numbers.
Why do the libs only dwell on the negative things?

apparently some of the 'simpletons' don't understand.
the quote, "foreclosures are up x% does not mean the percentage of the total home owners having a foreclosure is up, it means the number of foreclosures compared to previously is up.
If you have 10 home owners, and 2 of them have foreclosures, the 2 equals 100%.
now if you have 1000 home owners, and 3 of them have foreclosures, cnbc/cnn would say, "foreclosures are up 50%",and it is a statistical fact, but very misleading and bias.

Not necessarily! Increase home ownership may also indicates that banks are too liberal or soft in giving loans to someone who may not be able to afford it in case of small financial crises which results in increase in foreclosure. There is a real concern at Federal Reserve Bank level that mortgage banks have been too soft in lending. As times are getting tough with loss of manufacturing jobs in some states and increase oil prices which are making daily life expansive therefore some people are ending up with foreclosure. Also some loans were given at adjustable rate to those who could not afford it. Those loans are adjusted to much higher rates. Those people have no choice but foreclosure.

As a realtor, I can tell you for a fact, that nationwide, the housing market is in big trouble. Individual markets may be doing all right, but the overall market is horrible. Prices on new homes suffered a huge drop last month. Foreclosures are going through the roof (and sorry, but the foreclosure rate is rising MUCH faster than the home ownership rate).
So, if Fox News is trying to tell you the housing market picture is positive right now, they are doing you a huge disservice. Could it be that maybe, just maybe, they are trying to put a good face on the bad situation in order to help out the Republicans in the upcoming elections?

It depends on your viewpoint, and your disposition. Is the glass half empty or half full?
Fox frequently overstates the case. The Republican glass is overflowing with the freshest, coolest water. The Democratic glass is nearly empty and what water is in it is bitter and undrinkable. It's the same glass!
Fox News has more to do with "entertainment" than news. It pumps its viewers full of the stuff they want to hear. It's unfortunate that it viewers want to feel that the world is unfair and against them.
There is more going on in the world than a non-stop squabble between the Republicans and Democrats. Nothing positive gets done in such a poisonous atmosphere.

Uh wow.
Okay then.
The foreclosure rate will continue to go up as more of the foolish people who bought homes with adjustable rate mortgages can not afford the mortgage payment once interest rates go up

Actually foreclosures wouldn't go up, if people wouldn't have bought more then they could afford. That's people making bad decisions, not the government. I fail to see the relevance news wise at all.

Liberals are the people in our country saying we can't. Conservatives say we can! Which one do you want to be. Libs always point out the problem but they never do anything about it. Then they put the blame on Conservatives. I think I would go crazy if I was a lib. Thank God for Conservatives!

There is another example...
The rate of minorities entering college has increased to the highest rate in history....
The liberal media spins it...."minority numbers entering college still lag". They don't even mention the overall INCREASE!

why don't republicans understand economics?
here's another good one: when the democrats preside over a fiscal deficit, it proves they are reckless spenders, when republicans run up the biggest deficit in history (for the 2nd time in 15 years), they are spending their way to a growth economy.
That one always makes me laugh til the snot comes out!
