Yesterday I was having so much contractions that I went to see my doctor. He sent me too the emergency room and I was put on the monitor. The scary thing was my baby heart rate kept on dropping and then it would come back to normal. I was told to stay at the hospital until the morning. Instead I asked the doctor to be discharged because the contractions stop and my baby's heart rate was getting better. So I was told to return to the ER on Wednesday so they could further monitor my little one. Do you think that I should have stayed? If I honestly felt that the baby was in danger I would have stayed.

I had several false alarms with both of my pregnancies. If the contractions stopped there was no reason for you to stay since you weren't admitted. Good luck.

Hi Vicky,
This is obviously your first bubby:) It can be very scary for you in hospital, and the staff can sometimes treat you like a thing not a person, but when all is said and done they are all trying to help you and your little one. If the doctor -who wouldnt be in that position unless he had lots of study under his belt says: stay and be monitored then that is truely the best thing to do. You dont say how long till you are due, but its probably pretty soon if you are having lots of contractions. With your first though you will get what they call Braxton Hicks contractions, which are practise contractions, for up to four to six weeks before the birth, and after that with 2nd and further, you can get them too,but they arent so new and worrisome. The best thing would be to go back in and get a check if the babies heart beat is slowing at all then that is a sign that the baby is at risk and not to be taken lightly. Hope you get seen soon, praying for you and bubby- mother of five:)

I started having contactions at 7 months and carried my son the full 10 months.

There are different things to consider like for example, Have you seen your "first showing"(mucous plug). If so, I would definitly stay alarmed and aware that labor could happen at any time. If not, I would just really look out for it since your having contractions already.

From now on I would suggest that you just try to do what the doctor suggest you to do. I know that this can be an impatient time but It definitly wouldnt hurt to stay monitored.

Even if nothing happens there's nothing wrong with being PROACTIVE for yout little one.

oh, and congrats to you!

Dr's went to medschool you know...I think you should've follow his instructions. There could be something wrong (I'mnot saying there is) and you not know about it. I'm sure you are fine but you pay a doctor so that he advices you and tells you what to do.So even if you feel there's nothing wrong just work with it.

YEA I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED. WHEN YOU ARE ON THE MONITORS THEY CAN BE MORE INVOLVED WITH THE PREGNANCY.
