Vipers you say. That is copperheads, rattlesnakes, and water mocassins in the US. Just those and no others? Ok, messing with you, you have snakes in the house and it is bothering you.

Other than chemical means, there are few options. First tip is to make sure that all clutter around the house is cleaned up and gone. Also, make sure that the grass is always mowed and any brushy areas are cleaned up. During the spring in summer, it gives the snakes a place to hide, but more importantly, it gives their food places to live. Keep the food away and you stand a better chance. Don't entice mice and rats with scraps of food or pet food that stays out all the time. Also, go around your place and find any holes leading under the house or into the house and seal them up. The snakes are getting in somewhere and I bet they aren't ringing the doorbell to get in.

Animal detterants. Cats will help keep the mice and rats to a lower level. Either they kill them or the rats and mice avoid the place to stay away from the cat. Combine this with other rodent solving measures and there is less snake food about. I have never seen a cat take on a snake that is more than a foot or so in length. They will hiss and make a big fuss at larger ones but they leave them alone. I have seen dogs kill the bigger ones though. If you do have venomous snakes around, you may want to not use animal deterrants because the snakes can kill smaller animals. We lost a couple of dogs due to snake bite.
