Stepparents have almost all access and rights as a biological parent does. I know this because i am a stepmother to 1 child. But she is like my own.

Legally they have no rights at all, unless they become granted by the courts. This is true no matter what magical rights these other people think they have that posted. They may do things for the child, but they have no legal rights even if they feel "like the child is my own". It isn't. A court is the only way you can get rights, and the other bio parent must sign theirs away.

In LA, a former stepparent can ask the court for visitation rights.
