I prob have a few fave book spreading across different genres. I love Graham Greene, my own fave is Brighton Rock, for the mystery and suspense side but it provides a great insite in to the human condition. So to does The Counte of Monte Cristo (Dumas). A superb novel about how adversity changes someone and again 'bout the human condition. For laughs Jasper Fforde is great fun and provide excellent relief as does Robert Rankin for mystery/supernatural books. Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocolypse by Rankin is a treat if you need a laugh! Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood (and alot of hers) are also very good. They have real depth and insite, very interesting and not too taxing to read. But personally the books which stand out to me more than any would be The Three Musketeers (Alexander Dumas), The Quiet American (Graham Greene) and the Blind Assasin (Margaret Atwood) all provide different insites in to love, the complexity of character, the neccisities of life and strengh in different capacity! All great reads and what I would take to a desert island with me!

Martha grimes is good if you like Suspense
Also Kathy Reichs is not too bad

I like Dean Koontz - a little bit of supernatural mixed up with a good mystery
I like Agatha Christie -
I like Arthur Connan Doyle - He has other things then Sherlock Holmes though I do enjoy Holmes.

Iris Johansen has some good mystery-suspense-thrillers out there also - the Eve Ducan forensic series is very entertaining though each is a stand alone book.

The Rosary Girls by Richard Montanari which I read last week was very good also.

In the Sci-Fi fantasy dept. I like the pern series a lot And Katherine Kurtz's talent series

choose well and enjoy :)

In a my house - there are at least 5000 paperbacks and several hundred hardbacks, I have read at least 90% of them. They cover just about every possible genre and a huge swathe of english speaking authors. You want me to pick a favourite? Ive thrown out or sold at least twice that many to get more shelf space! Any well written book , sometimes just an informative one, is my current favourite while I am reading or re-reading it!

That's a good question, but I can't answer it! There are too many! I'll give you a couple, though, of the best of the best in case you ever come across them, they're very good.

The Book Of Lost Things-John Connolly
The Handmaid's Tale-Margaret Atwood (All her stuff is good)
The Bloody Chamber-Angela Carter (As above, anything she has written is amazing.)
A Gathering Light-Jennifer Donnelly
Native Son-Richard Wright
A Prayer for Owen Meany-John Irving. (This book made me cry, its so weird and touching!)

There are too many!! I could go on all night...

I could never choose one favorite book! I don't even have a favorite author! But I adore fantasy. Also love My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. HP books rule. So does Tamora Pierce. Marley & Me by John Grogan is the funniest dog story ever that I have read. A lot more, but to little time :)
