Sex education is a vital part of every young person's schooling. Of course ideally every parent would teach their children the facts of life in a sensitive, accurate way, but we don't live in an ideal world, and some parents are embarrassed to discuss sex with their children, or would rather mis-inform their child, thinking they're protecting them, or teach them in such as way as to pass on their own hang-ups to their kids. Learning about sex at school ensures that every child knows what it's vital they know, in order to be prepared for real life, and not to be ashamed or embarrassed by their sexuality or their bodies. I think it's disgraceful that places of learning should follow the lead of the puritanical, bigoted and prudish elements of their country. I believe that banning sex education would lead to more teenage pregnancies, the spread of STDs, ignorance and psychological problems within society. Young people will grow up into adults, whether their parents like it or not, and they should be ready to make their own choices about sex, and understand their sexuality when the time comes.

Because it seems that being responsible and having respect for one's self is a horrible thing to do nowadays. Or it could be "insensitive" towards the gay community since it is only taught aiming towards hetero lifestyle of reproduction, consequences and chastity. Parents may not want their children to be guided on a right path and understand it by, now don't be surprised, authority figure! Instead let them "experiment" and see what they like and want to do, in the process picking up STDs and teen pregnancies.
I remember in my sex-ed class the teacher had cauliflower, told us this is what genital warts look like and told how it can spread and grow over openings, preventing urination and worse consequences and took a knife and cut it in half. Explaining that is how they get rid of it by cutting or other means of splitting it to have better access. Yeah, imagine showing that to the kids now and how freaked out they would get, but that would probably end up in a lawsuit for "distress". But in this day in age I guess experimenting at young ages is the way to go. Sex-ed? That went out the window with the rest of majority of people's morality, respect and values.

Some parents think it isn't up to public education to introduce sex to their children. Sexuality is not a topic that should enter an establishment of academics. I believe that Parents should bare the sole responsibility of teaching their children about sex, sexuality, reproduction, diseases incurred from sex, protection from disease, and birth control. Often schools have introduced the topic and instead of averting the teen pregnancy, they lead them to it. Children will practice what they learn, whether it be bad, good, or indifferent.
