I hope it is true, but won't be counting any chickens as of yet....

"Republicans have had an advantage with early-voter turnout over Democrats because of better party funding and organization, according to Paul Gronke, director of the Early Voting Information Center at Reed College in Oregon, a state where traditional Election Day polling has been eliminated altogether in favor of voting by mail. "I suspect it will still be their advantage," he said."

Sure. Their base is consistently motivated by issues that don't concern your personal well being. e.g. financially. They have a powerful base that vote on issues such as gay marriage; prayer in school; abortion; and separation of church and state issues.

However none of these issues really affect Americans economically.

If they weren't so blinded by their faith, maybe they would vote on issues that do affect them and their future, illegal immigration; federal deficit; energy prices and alternative fuels; free trade and the outsourcing of American jobs to Asian countries; our environment and quality of life.

So more than likely, we will still be under the grip of this new conservative movement for a long time to come. Until our country and Constitution are only read about in the history books.

p.s. I'm just anti-incumbent

I don't necessarily agree with his reasoning, but I do think that republicans benefit from early voting.

My reasoning is that republicans don't vote on election day because they can't fit it into their schedules (dumb reason) and democrats don't because they can't, or won't go to the polling location (for many reasons, some valid some not). Early voting is easier to fit into a schedule, but generally doesn't make it any easier to solve the "transportation" issue.

I think in the past that may have been true. But there have been all kinds of stories about voting early and drives to get voters registered that those predictions won't work this year.

No I don't because in early voting we had the choice of paper ballots and the electronic voting machines. By leaving a paper trail, the Republicans can't steal the elections like they did in Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004.
