I had a chicken, and he was cool. It followed me around like I was his mother. We turned over rocks to hunt for bugs in the backyard.

Chicken's aren't lame but they're definitely not the cleanest animal to have around.
Nor are they the most affectionate.
If I were to get a barnyard type of animal, I would get a rabbit.
If I were to get a small house pet, I would get a guinea pig.

I don't think chickens are lame , when my son was four his pre K class hatched some in a incubator he brought one home he named him Jack ,he would run up to us just like a dog and would follow my son around in the yard . I always thought chickens were real stupid but there not as dumb as we think !

CHICKEN'S FREAKIN' ROCK !
They are the one animal that is the cheapest to feed and they give back and do more 'work' then any other animal ! Chicken's cost pennies a day to keep,if they free range their gardening is amazing,my flower beds have never looked so dang nice! and the eggs oh my gosh they are so yummy.

Chickens are cool. I have ten of them and one is a rooster who just learned to crow. I have a large yard so they are not a problem but if you have a small yard I would expect that they’d stink unless you only get one or two.

it really depends on the type of person you are, chickens arent exactly the most intelligent of animals, so if you are looking for a more stimulating relationship with your pet i would try something else. Parakeets and parrots are extremely responsive and you can teach them tricks.
