First of all you have to install a HTML editor.... Let's assume that you have installed `Dreamweaver' follow these steps..

Open Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer).

Click Tools, then Folder Options, then File Types

Under Registered file types, find HTML document and click it once.

Click the Edit button.

In the Actions box, if Edit or Edit with Dreamweaver is listed click it once and then click Remove. Click Yes to confirm removal.

Click New and then in the Action box, type "&Edit" without the quotes.

Under Application used to perform action, browse to the Dreamweaver executable and select it. Click OK.

If you ALSO want your default action in Internet Explorer (not Windows Explorer) to edit such files, click Edit under Actions, then click Set Default.

Click OK, OK. You are now finished.

If it still doesn't work, repeat the procedure for HTM extensions.

There's two ways:
Control panel, internet options, programs tab, html editor drop down.(if nothing shows up in there, reinstall html editing software)

Alternate way: within "explorer" click tools, folder options, hit file types tab. Find HTM, hit the advanced button and change the program for "edit". do the same for HTML, ASPX and any other internet file you want to edit with the program.

Hope this helps
