Polite is the basic premise of the term "politically correct". But., it's more than that. In each generation there have been current socially acceptable terms for defining race, handicap, sexual preference, etc.. The goal of using a politically correct terms is more than just being polite, it is to avoid harm to that which of you speak. By using the current acceptable "politically correct" terms, you are also using terms that are currently socially acceptable as well....you are expressing humanity and humility.
