1. Speed - less than 10minute delivery compared to 2 to 3 days at best.
2. Electronic Storage of coorespondance - data saved in multiple locations for historical analysis and review
3. Ease of reply - simply type and and send to reply compared to type, print, address envelope, affix stamp, put in mail box.
4. Less Expensive - paper, envelope, ink/pencil supplies all add to almost $0.50 per letter compared less than $0.01
5. Coorespondance organization and tracking - electronic storage and filing in most email system allows for sorting and grouping of messages.
6. Attachments - electronic files can be attached for use on other machines, this could be photos, programs, spreadsheets, documents, etc.

not sure if i can come up with 5...
1. faster
2. more convenient since ppl are at computers more than sitting down with pen and paper
3. if research is needed it also is just a mouse click away instead of having to go thru books and such and search
4. neater in the long run since all ur mail (sent and received) is kept in ur account instead of stuffing papers in a drawer
5. and its now the most widely accepted form of communication b/c u still have the much needed paper trail in the business world as well as having fast response times.

It's free, instant, unlimited, you can send and receive several responses a day, you can see if they got it, you dont' lose them as easily as conventional, you can forward them, the person can see what they wrote when they get a response because it's copied below, and you can get busted like a senator when the whole world gets access to them.

Its cheap.
Thats about it - there's no other advantage that I can think of. Let's face it, it's not like the world wasn't working _before_ email...
