Adding identifying marks to digital photographs?

I would like to put an identification mark on photographs I upload to the internet. Can anyone tell me how I do this please?

In Adobe Photoshop you can add a 'watermark' this is a semi transparent image which you can place in your photos whilst still allowing people to see the image but they can't copy them as they will have the watermark on them. Same principle as a watermark on quality paper or a bank note.

Do you mean just tagging your photos? If so, after you download them to your computer, just remane them.
