In my experience (I'm a high school teacher) teens want to get pregnant for several reasons.

One, young girls think that if they have a baby, their boyfriends will somehow love them more, or be more committed to them. Unfortunately this is not the case most of the time. One year at the school, at which I am a teacher the same boy had impregnanted 3 different girls all with in a 2 month period of each other.

Two, the young girl does not have much support or love from her parents or in her home, so she thinks that if she has her own baby, this child will give her the love that she lacks in her life, or the child will somehow make the people in her life lover her more.

Three, many young girls see being pregnant and having a baby as sort of a fairy tale sort of experience. They think only of having a cute little baby to dress and play with, never mind that babies, cry, get sick, are messy, need constant attention and that being pregnant is one of the most physically draining and harsh experiences for the body to endure, etc.

Finally, peer pressure to be sexually active is strong, but there are also very strong influences in the media, and on TV and in the movies that sexualize teenagers, make having sex look and sound exciting with out ever exploring any of the emotional, physical or spiritual sideffects. Many parents don't teach their kids about sex, or the nature of a sexual relationship that it is more than just a physical act, but that there are things like emotional and spiritual, moral elements to consider.

Peer pressure? Are you talking about getting pregnant or just having sex? Teens can feel peer pressure to have sex, if their friends are doing it, or if they THINK their friends are doing it. I've never seen any pressure get pregnant.
Teens that aren't educated about the risks of sexual activity, aren't educated about how to protect themselves from STD's, pregnancy, etc., those teens are playing Russian roulette.
My cousin got pregnant at 17 because she wanted someone to love. Someone to love????? I got a dog! Lots of love, much cheaper, much less responsibility.

to get out of the house. Alot of teens think they have it soo bad (which some probably do) at home that getting pregnant is their way out.

because they are immature and know nothing about life and the big responsibility a child is.
