I colored my hair when I was pregnant (my hair was bright orange when I found out, and I had to do something about it).

I made sure to ask my doctor, and at her suggestion, I just bought a few of those little masks that you can buy at a home improvement store that help when you're cutting the grass. It kept me from breathing in the fumes, and my baby turned out fine. I think the only real danger is if you inhale the fumes. The actual act of coloring your hair won't have any effect on your unborn baby.

Congratulations!

Yes, the chemicals in the hair dye won't do any harm to the the baby, as they're are absorbed into the body in tiny quantities, if at all. Your hair might not end up the colour you were expecting though, because pregnancy can affect how your hair absorbs the dye - something to do with hormones I believe.

There is very little chance of the chemicals seeping into the blood stream and even smaller chance of it affecting your baby. If you are worried, wait until your second trimester.

There is a small chance that your hair may not take the dye as well as normal because of your hormones, but as far as I know, there is no risk.

It is better not to color your hair while you are pregnant. Hair dyes contain many chemicals, most contain ammonia. Ammonia is breathed in by the mother and actually is absorbed into your blood stream which goes to the baby. There are also many other chemicals in hair dye that have shown birth defects in some lab studies also. I personally would let my hair grow and look silly for 9 months than risk doing harm to my little one. After all, the focus is on that little belly of yours...

I didn't think it was advisable, because of the chemicals in the dyes. As much as your hair probably needs doing, I would check with your doctor first, just in case you get a hairdresser who will say yes, but doesn't really know.

I am sure it is fine to do so. Although, the colour may be a bit different. Your hair and nails are the last to recieve the vitamins and minerals and whilst pregnant the baby gets these first. So your hair will be slightly different.

well, i am a hair stylist, and i am ttc and i still go to work every day. my best friend just had a beautiful baby and got her hair done and did her customers hair while she was prego. so i think that is all up to the doctor.mostly in the first three months they say.... some say yes and some say no. I will get mine done when i am prego. We learn nothing about not being able to get it done , when your prego, while in school, so i dont see the harm.... hope all goes well

It depends. I wouldn't use bleach because it can be absorbed into the blood stream. I dye mine black and did so through both my pregnancies then I was told that the product in black is as harmful as bleach. I've also been told brown and copper tones are safe. I think it's personal choice. I've never heard of anyone harming their baby through it.

i dont think the warnings u hear about dying ur hair when pregnant are because of the baby, i think its because the peroxide mixed with pregnancy hormones could react and turn ur hair green, that said i dyed my hair red when i was pregnant and had no problems, i think blondes are the ones to steer away from good luck with the baby!!
