I just think that you need to respect them and have a very open relationship with them so that if they are thinking about becoming sexually active they can feel free to talk to you about it. And if in doubt provide birth control.

It's all about communication. No matter how much you tell your kid, or how many sex ed classes they take, teenagers that are underage have to have a parent to get the things they need to prevent pregnancy (condoms, birth control).
So if you don't have the kind of relationship where your kid feels like he can talk to you and trust you to not freak out, you're basically allowing your kid to trust everyone else.
And that's how kids get pregnant.

Parents need to be all in a teenagers business and stay in it that way they know what is going on in there secret little minds. I personally think that as so as a girl starts to have her period then they should have to go to the doc and get an IUD inserted. It should be law because they have no control over forgetting to take a pill and purpose or accident. There is no control it's in there and that's that!!!!!!!!!~

teens think that they r invincible.
the best that parents can do is to ensure that the kids have the facts and to be open and honest when asked anything. try to counteract any misinformation that's doing the rounds. warn kids about drugs and alcohol and safety at parties/gatherings/public places.

Kids are going to be kids. even the ones who have the most support are going to maybe get pregnant.
my advice would be to talk with them and explain to them what abstinence is and tell'em why its a good thing to do.
be a great role model!
