A licensed driver in the car doesn't erase his having NO license! He'll have to pay the fine which here in NYS I believe is $200! I also believe driving without a license is a misdeamenor not a driving infraction. He may be required to obtain counsel also which is not a free service either!

Probably a $100 fine and cost of court. He could pay a lawyer and get out of it, but it would cost him quite a bit more than this. It really depends on what judge he goes in front of. Some are pretty good about stuff like this. If it was me, I would get an attorney and try my best to get out of it, so it don't go against his record. Did he have a learners permit to drive? Is this the deal with the licensed driver in the car? You have to ask yourself; does he need to have this against his record? Sometimes and attorney can get the state to just drop it. There is a thing called prayer for judgment, where he just pays the cost of court and if he doesn't get into anymore trouble within the next two years, it will be forgotten about. Good Luck!!!

First off- tell your son to use better judgement next time. If he has no license, why didn't the person who DOES have a license drive instead of him??

His punishment from mom should he about a month at home with no friends, no phone, no internet, and lots of chores.

His fine could be as high as 1000 dollars depending on what state you live in and he might even serve up to 30 days in jail or a juvenile detention center.

Some day he may want to apply for a DL and in some states, they won't issue a license if prior offenses are on record.. see what the judge says when you go to court with him.

Here it would be $150 plus court costs plus mandatory drivers school plus a set period of time to obtain the drivers license and present it to the court.
