There was a slight burning smell and now Henry the hoover wont go. Its not the fuse. Any ideas?

Unplug it, flip it ove and remove the access panel and check the belt. If that's not it, it may be time to visit the landfill with Henry.

your belt is not turning.lay down the vac,remove metal plate over the brush/turning cylinder.turn the cylinder to ensure its turning freely and rove the strings and whatnot that are preventing it from turning.check the belt ,is it old,loose or broken/replace it.its important that you keep this area free of debree if you want a good vac to last you.i do it once every second or third time i use the vac.don't continue to vac when it has that burning smell ,that is melting rubber and will mark up your carpet badly.if you have one of those new fangled ones i have no experience with these.maybe call the manufacturer?

Henry the Hoover has seen better days, I would say its time to buy a new Hoover.

sounds like a tired belt.

burnt Motor or broken(burnt) belt..
