Most important, first you will need publicity, so folks know your are out there trying to raise money for a worthy cause. To get publicity, however, is complicated. Try to get your weekly newspaper, or shopper's guides, to advertise for free you organization. Try to get others to volunteer to pass the word around with flyers. Also you are going to need a lawyer to establish your organization as non-profit.
