I always buy American Made cars. It used to be brand loyalty, but now it's whatever I need, as long as it is American made. Even though there are a lot of foreign owned assembly plants here in the states, most just ship the parts in to be assembled here, so they really aren't AMERICAN MADE. Although they are supplying jobs, it doesn't come close to the # of jobs that the American made companies supply. We have plant closings all of the time, jobs gone. If sales were up, those jobs would stay and new ones would come.I know that where those foreign plants open, life does improve , but what about the HIT that the areas take where the plants close ? I personally don't think it's worth it. I will continue to shop for American made goods and cars, and try to keep the good jobs here.

Let me start off by telling you that there is no such thing anymore as an American made car. Eighty percent of the components going into USA OEM (original equipment manufacturer) is from outside sources. GM, Ford & Chrysler want the cheapest product available so they can maintain their profit. So, often, many designs are done in India, Tools built in Korea with Steel bought in China and the tools then sent by an Arabian transport company to some small shop in Mexico where underpaid workers assemble product and ship to an assembly plant in the USA where the high priced workers put the final part on a vehicle.
So the question back to you is; do you support American Made Brands that really are not? Tis a global market my friend, I know as I am one of the companies that I refer to in the previous scenario, Strange but True!

I purchased a Volkswagen this time around, before that I had a Nissan built in TN. I chose a foreign car because American manufacturers do not make the type of car I want, something small and economical but still focused on safety. My husband however has a Chevy truck because he firmly believes American manufacturers make the best trucks. I would have preferred to buy an American car, however since American manufacturers have placed all their focus on gas guzzling SUV's and trucks I couldn't find one I liked.

most cars are made now in America, Toyota hires more Americans than the big three lay off. Europeans make many nice things but, I drive a Mustang, it just too much fun to drive, it's so American, Sporty, Sexy, clean, fast, high performance, dual exhast, 5 speed, that "Don't F--k with me" deep exhaust note. I LOVE IT !
