The tests are accurate by that time. There is some doubt that the results are accurate in the time period between ovulation and 10 days after the missed period.

If she had one show positive, it is very likely that she is pregnant. Pregnancy tests operate off a detection chemical that reacts with a hormone pregnant women have in their urine. It is entirely possible that a test can miss the appearance of that hormone, but it is neigh impossible that one could detect it when it is absent. She should se a doctor immediately.

Get a proper test done at the doctors. The accuracy of the devices is usually shown on the packaging.

Has she gone through and stress/ilness/is she underweight/taking any prescritpion drugs?

See the doctor, sometimes those tests can be wrong. But your friend needn't panic, lots of things can throw the cycle, like exam stress, moving house, travelling, work pressures, too many late nights ... it might be just a false alarm.

She needs to go to a doctor or a women's clinic.

There are such things as "False Negatives" with home pregnancy tests.

THERE IS A REASON THEY CLAIM TO BE 99 PERCENT ACCURATE. SHE SHOULD SEE HER DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY TO HAVE A BLOOD TEST DONE. THAT WILL BE MORE DEFINITIVE.

Thankfully your friend isn't pregnant, however I do recommend her seeing a doctor if she still hasn't gotten her period.
