Well these people are mostly right. There are 30 teams and each team plays 82 games, that is correct, but there aren't 2460 games in the regular season. There are exactly half that many since each game is played by TWO teams at the same time. So the real answer is 1230 regular season games. In the playoffs, each round consists of a best of seven series. There are sixteen teams, with a total of four rounds in the entire playoffs. There a total of 15 series with a maximum of 105 (if all series go to seven games) or a minumum of 60 ( if all series are won in 4 games).
So with the regular season and playoffs, the total number of NBA games played are between 1290 and 1335 games.
There are also normally 8 preseason games for each team. If you count these the number grows to 1410 to 1455 total games.

You are all wrong and I'll prove it.
There are 30 teams and they each play 82 games, on the exception that each one plays one of the 29 other teams in the league. This is what you guys are saying, if every team plays on one night then there would be 30 games. but really it would be 15 games because the 30 teams would play each other. it's more than just simple math. just letting you know that I got it right.

They play teams on their conference 4 times, 2 at home and 2 away. And they play teams on the other conference twice. Once at home and once away. This is a general rule thumb as teams in the western conference play certain teams each year only 3 times.
