Sibelius - especially the second and fifth symphonies.
Try to get the Carlos Kleiber CD of Beethoven's fifth and seventh symphonies - electrifying performances, quite stunning.
All the Rachmaninov symphonies and piano concertos.
Ravel's Piano Concerto No 4 played by Michaelangeli - incredible stuff.
Beethoven's last string quartets - but don't use as background music, sit still and listen and be transported.
The Elgar cello concerto played by Jacqueline du Pre with Sir John Barbirolli conducting (this is EMI's top-selling classical record and has been for about the last twenty years).
Anything by Delius with Sir Thomas Beecham conducting.
Enjoy! Welcome to my world!

My renowned classical "music" is the "Ode to exhilaration" from Beethoven's 9th Symphony. What a exhilaration and what a hurry that's to hearken to that piece performed via a worldwide type Symphony Orchestra!
