It will be effective only when the woman who uses it is ready for change. Organizations that work on a community level, should take the responsibility of educating the target group on this law. In public places this should be put up, like buses and trains or even travel tickets should mention the new law that is effective.
The effectiveness comes when the women who have made changes in their thoughts come forward to make this law useful to them. But with law there should be services....when women come out to act where does she go? She surely cannot go back to her home, It is said that most of the women die due to assault with in one hour of report, The abuser kills her before the police arrives. So what is the safety measures to protect women. Do we have shelters for abused women? Are there housing for women once they leave their homes? Passing the law is not a big thing but with law services are needed.
Shelters are the need of the hour. Counseling services are needed for women, Services to work with abusers are needed. Domestic violence is a huge topic.

I hope it will make domestic violence a history - as long as women keep using their rights and institutions.

ALL women will be truly safe, when NO woman is willing to take abuse from a man. The chain will finally be broken.
