As I see it, all humanity is seeing the universe as a great random accident, that life in all its complexity is one big coincidence. Despite the fact that, in order for life to exist, events must go in a certain order at exactly the right time and in exactly the right measurements.
It's a bit much to ask of random chance.
To answer your question, the lie is that "This is how it is" when even they know that this theory doesn't quite explain things.

That the West is truly civilised (rather than on the way to it); that we have a participatory democracy (how many participate); that more of business as usual, with technologies to come, will solve climate change in time; that evolution is "only a theory"; that happiness will come tomorrow if we keep working, getting and spending; that the level of consumerism measures the quality of life, and the gross national "product" (we're consuming 25pc more of Earth's resources each year than the Earth annually can produce; that some supernatural being of one kind or another made the universe and is watching over us; that one Holy Book of one kind or another holds all the guidance we need for life; that the priests of religion, or economics, or anything else warrant our uncritical attention. I could go on ... and on ... But perhaps the biggest lie of all is the belief that we can be top predator of all forever ...

yep, definitely the usa's entire war on terror effort has to be the biggest lie we're currently seeing. for more info on how 9/11 actually happened, meaning scientific facts and knowledge based on observations rather than what the politicians have seen, look up a movie called "loose change". it's generally availabe free online someplace. i wish i knew where.

I'd have to side with the some of the previous statements. That the 'War on Terror' is anything other than an excuse to use America's war machine and solidify an unelected presidents hold on his government.
On a broad scale, that there is one god. That love is for ever. That you can meet someone and KNOW you will be with them for the rest of your life. That any one persons view is right all the time.

The war in Iraq, Hurricane Katrina, and genocide in other countries from the U.S. I included Hurricane Katrina because since I am from New Orleans, people have heard the blowing up of the levees and not to mention how flood waters destroyed the poor blacks houses. All that I just mentioned is occuring nationwide and nobody seems to care and not want to make a huge difference or a necessary difference and it just makes me angry!!!!

Well, we assume that the light we see from stars is in real time, whereas actually it's light from at least four years ago.
Though I guess that isn't really a lie, just a misunderstanding.

I feel that the word civilised is based on pretending that certain things do not exist..The more you pretend the more civilised you are. Some where the whole system is a hoax..It is bound to crumble like a pack of cards.
Perhaps if all of us discard all our clothes it will help.
